Fire crews put out large fire at Johnson Gas Appliance Company

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – On Tuesday night, firefighters put out a large industrial fire at Johnson Gas Appliance Company, located at the northwest intersection of Ellis Boulevard and E Avenue.
At about 10 p.m., several Cedar Rapids fire stations responded to the fire, which had already burned through and destroyed a large section of the roof, according to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
Several roads in the area of the fire were closed by first responders. Crews said they stayed in the area for many hours to ensure any flare-ups were kept to a minimum.
According to company officials, no one was in the building at the time of the incident.
The building was significantly damaged by fire, smoke, and water, with the main structure being destroyed. The cause of the fire is now being investigated.
