Two Leap Day Babies are welcomed by Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids welcomed two new members on Leap Day.
The babies are both male.
5:36 a.m. saw the birth of Baby Liam.
Given that he arrived on this Leap Day, his parents have given him the endearing nickname Leapin’ Liam. They find it cool that Liam will turn such a strange age on his birthday.
The second Leap Day baby was born at 3:34 a.m.; his name is still pending.
“His parents say Leap Day isn’t the day they would choose for his birth, if given the choice, but they think it’s fun that they’ll be able to decide when they want to celebrate his birthday – perhaps sometimes on Feb. 28, and other years, on March first.”
Every four years, Leap Day babies get to celebrate their birthday on their real birthdate. They get to pick whether to celebrate on February 28 or March 1 every other year.
