Iowa reports over 800,000 people fully vaccinated
There were 538 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 358,677.
The state’s website says that of the 358,677 people who have tested positive, 339,587 have recovered. This is 493 more recoveries than what the state reported Wednesday.
The state is reporting zero additional COVID-19 deaths, with a death toll of 5,857. This is the fourth consecutive day of zero reported deaths.
Subtracting the number of recoveries (339,587) and the number of deaths (5,857) from the total number of cases (358,677) shows there are currently 13,233 active positive cases in the state.
As of Thursday morning, there were 37 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 218, which is up from 215. Of those, 49 are in the ICU (down from 57), and 19 are on ventilators (up from 14).
In Iowa, there were 2,940 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,674,868 people have been tested for COVID-19.
As of Thursday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 1,866,464 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 815,152 individuals have completed the series. This is 16,575 more completed vaccinations than Wednesday. You can view the dashboard for more data.
