A New Type of Fitness Studio is Headed to Cedar Rapids
If you’re getting sick of doing the same workouts over and over, there’s a chance for you to try something new here in Cedar Rapids this summer!
Yesterday, I was scrolling through Facebook and I came across an advertisement for Pure Barre. Pure Barre is a fitness studio with locations all across the country, including Midwest states like Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Missouri. There are actually two locations here in Iowa already, one in Ankeny and one in West Des Moines, but a third one is on the way and it’s right here in Eastern Iowa!
The Pure Barre in Cedar Rapids will be located at 5300 Fountains Drive NE near Style Encore and Edward Jones. A post on Facebook from February revealed that the business hopes to open sometime this summer.
If you’re not familiar with Barre, Wikipedia says that it’s “a form of physical exercise, usually conducted in group classes in gyms or specialty studios. It is distinguished from other group fitness activities by its use of the ballet barre and its incorporation of movements derived from ballet.”
Here’s a quick video from the Pure Barre YouTube page to give you an idea:
Pure Barre typically offers four classes, including Foundations, Classic, Pure Empower, and Pure Reform, but only the Foundations and Classic classes will be available when the Cedar Rapids location opens its doors. They are actually offering a free Foundations class on their website.
I’ve tried a lot of different exercise classes, but I’ve never experienced a Barre class before. A Michigan friend of mine used to be an instructor, and she was in GREAT shape, so I’ve always been curious about it! There is no official opening date listed for the Cedar Rapids location online yet.
