No one injured in early morning apartment fire in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 2:25 am Friday morning at 1630 Seminole Avenue NW. The call was reported by an occupant in an adjacent apartment building.
Fire was found in the ceiling above a hallways and bathroom in the third floor apartment units. CRFD crews started putting out the fire and other crew members were searching for occupants still inside the building.
No occupants were found that hadn’t safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.
There was fire, heat and smoke damage to the attic and water damage to the apartment of fire origin on the third floor and water damage to a second floor apartment. An occupant was displaced from the fire affected apartment. The American Red Cross is assisting.
Four Engine companies, a Truck Company, a Rescue Company and a Battalion Chief worked the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
