Camp Wakonda welcomes campers for summer 2021
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Camp Wakonda is reopening and looking forward to see campers for the summer of 2021, after being closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Camp Wakonda will welcome back Club Scouts on Thursday.
“It feels great and the response from parents and families has all been the same. I’m a mom of two boys also and my kids have been online a lot this year and I’m ready to get them out back into nature and being kids again and doing all the fun things that kids normally do. So it feels really good for all of us, the camp staff is excited to welcome families here tomorrow,” CEO of the Hawkeye Area Council for Boy Scouts of America, Sarah Dawson says.
Many popular activities of the camp like: a shooting range, a ninja warrior course, a zipline for older campers, a mountain biking trail, and swimming will be held from June to July.
Campers will face only one change from previous years – from July 25 to 30, the camp will be open to boys and girls from second to ninth grade. The camp will be residential with a weekly fee of $450. More information can be found at hawkeyebsa.org/campwakonda.
