A fundraiser celebrates a woman who was killed and helps a nonprofit
Iowa City, Iowa – A family paid tribute to a loved one who was killed by a drunk driver in Cedar Rapids last year on Saturday. They concluded that giving to others was the best way to honor her.
Bonnie Stover was struck by an intoxicated driver on November 12, 2023, while she was on a stroll in her Cedar Rapids area.
After losing her, the family wanted to live up to Stover’s spirit and accomplish something she would be proud of, according to Brenda Ulin, Stover’s twin sister, who claimed her sister was a happy and kind person.
“The Love Like Bonnie Foundation is hosting its first-ever fundraiser, and all proceeds will benefit His Hands Free Clinic,” Ulin stated.
Those without insurance can receive medical care from His Hands. They provided services to residents of over 20 Iowa counties last year.
Dawn Brouwers of the clinic during Saturday’s fundraiser at the Elks Country Club in Iowa City said : It’s amazing. “I have been a fundraiser for twenty to thirty years, and it has never happened.”
To honor a woman who was so remarkable to those who knew her, a one-of-a-kind fundraiser was a suitable tribute.
She was simply happy. “I mean, Bonnie made everyone feel seen,” Ulin remarked. She is identical to me. Thus, we were linked.
By supporting a foundation that helps thousands of people and ensuring that her sister’s legacy is as full of love and service as her life was, Ulin honored that link through fundraising.
The idea that someone would take the time to do all of this for us really chills me. They’re also doing it for Bonnie,” Brouwers remarked.
Ulin remarked, “We are aware that she is grinning down on this occasion.”
