No. 16 UNI wrestlers fall short against No. 5 Oklahoma State
CEDAR FALLS – UNI put up a strong fight against No. 5 Oklahoma State, but the 16th ranked Panthers needed a little more as the Cowboys got out of town with a 20-12 win. Oklahoma State won six of ten matches.
UNI’s Brody Teske, ranked 18th, used four second-period near fall points to take down No. 13 Trevor Mastrogiovanni 6-0 to open the meet at 125 pounds. Kyle Biscoglia’s win at 133 made it back-to-back victories out of the gate.
The fifth-ranked Cowboys, however, fought back with five straight, including major victories by No. 12 Wyatt Sheets (157) and No. 4 Travis Wittlake (165), to take control in the team score.
The Panthers, however, got a surprise at 184 pounds. UNI’s Parker Keckeisen took All-American Dakota Greet to sudden victory, tied 2-2. The Panther freshman scored an early takedown to lock up a 4-2 upset victory.
