Iowa surpasses one million vaccines administered
DES MOINES, Iowa —
The Iowa Department of Public health on Saturday reported 593 new COVID-19 positive tests and two additional deaths.
At 10 a.m., the health department reported 370,236 total positive tests, 324,220 total recoveries and 5,633 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. Twenty-four hours earlier, the health department reported 369,643 total positive tests and 5,631 total deaths.
Iowa reports 1,031,062 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered with 366,371 completing the vaccine series.
Iowa’s 14-day positivity rate is at 3.8% and the 7-day average is now 3.7%. Health department data shows 4,234,894 total tests have been administered.
There are now 182 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 168 the previous day. Iowa reports 41 patients in ICU and 17 patients on ventilators.
Three of Iowa’s long-term care facilities report active COVID-19 outbreaks. The health department reports 56 positive cases and 42 recoveries among residents and staff within those facilities. The state reports 2,215 care facility deaths.
