CRFD quickly extinguishes early morning house fire in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (— The Cedar Rapids Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish an early morning house fire in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday.

CRFD was called to the 500 block of Fairview Drive SE around 2:30 am.

The call came from the people living in the home who had evacuated after hearing the smoke detectors.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire in the basement and searched all levels of the home for any other issues.

The fire was in and around a garbage can in the laundry room and only led to minor smoke damage in that room.

No one was injured and the occupants were not displaced from the home.
