The Cedar Rapids Police Department says they have arrested a man for armed robbery.

Officers responded to the report in the 1600 block of C Avenue NW on Thursday, April 8 at 12:30 p.m. When they arrived a 24-year-old man was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect and the direction he went in.

The suspect allegedly entered the victim’s car with a gun and had possession of the victims wallet. He then fled the scene.

During a canvass of the area, a witness standing at 18th Street and B Avenue NW told officers he saw a person matching the suspect description running southbound on 19th Street NW.

Officers were able to locate and arrest 18-year-old Muzuri Kevin Yenge at 2000 1st Avenue NW, without incident, for first-degree robbery and burglary. He was taken to the Linn County Jail.

Officers also found the victim’s wallet in Yenge’s possession and recovered the handgun that was used in the armed robbery.
