4-Year-Old Boy Dies After Crash on Cape Cod
A 4-year-old boy has died of injuries he suffered in a Thursday car crash on Cape Cod.
The Cape Cod Times reports that Okémos Brown, of Mashpee, was in a car that collided with a flatbed truck around 9 a.m. Thursday on Route 151 in North Falmouth. Okémos was flown to a Boston-area hospital, where he later died.
A 28-year-old driver in the car suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. The driver of the truck declined medical treatment.
A letter sent to parents at the K.C. Coombs School in Mashpee said Okémos was a preschooler there and a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. The letter from Mashpee School Superintendent Patricia DeBoer called him “a bright light in the lives of all who knew him.”
“We will all spend difficult moments grieving his loss,” DeBoer wrote.
Counselors were being made available to students and staff at all Mashpee schools. The crash is being investigated by Falmouth police.
