Iowa Lands North Dakota Big Man in the Transfer Portal
It turns out the sky isn’t falling for the Iowa men’s basketball program after all. The transfer portal hasn’t been kind to Iowa this off-season. But on Thursday it finally landed Iowa a player the desperately needed in former North Dakota big man Filip Rebraca. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Rebraca chose the Hawkeyes over several other teams that were after his services after he entered the transfer portal this off-season.
Rebraca gives Iowa a front court player to fill the hole left by graduating Luka Garza and transfer Jack Nunge. He’ll have two years of eligibility left if he chooses to use the free year the NCAA offered last season. The Gazette reports that he’ll be a college graduate this summer and wants to earn his MBA.
The Gazette reports that everal other top basketball programs were interested in his services too including South Carolina, Stanford and Minnesota. But he ended up choosing Iowa. And that is something that has to have Hawkeye fans content. For now. Welcome to Iowa City Filip! LET’S GO HAWKS!
