Marion police urges pet owners not to leave pets in car
Marion, Iowa – Increase in cases involving pets being left unattended in cars during the hot weather are being recorded recently, according to local law enforcement officials.
As air temperature exceeded 90 degrees, Marion police received several reports from people concerned about pets that were left in vehicles outside of stores.
Pet owners should be aware that a car, even with the windows cracked, can quickly become unsafe for a pet with these air temperatures.
Police also urges people not to leave their kids in cars unattended. Two children have died in hot vehicles so far in 2021 in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
