$30,000 grant awarded to Tanager Place to support LGBTQ activities
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Amerigroup, An Anthem Company, recently awarded Tanager Place with a $30,000 grant.
The funds will go towards the Tanager Place LGBTQ Center’s activities.
For LGBTQ youth, families, and allies, the Center provides a safe and confidential environment.
The Center is located on the main floor of The Estle Center, 1030 5th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
“The Center has been existence since 2018 and each year touches the lives of hundred in the community. This grant will enable us to grow and expand our programs and events and increase our capacity to serve kids and families. Not a day goes by when I do not hear about a new need or concern. We also learn every day that we need to educate and promote inclusion and equity around the Center and our families. There is still so much work that needs to be done in order to make sure the LGBTQ community feels safe and accepted in the Corridor”, commented Center Director, Lori Ampey, “So much good will be done with this gift!”
Tanager Place assists children and families in overcoming obstacles and achieving mental health. Through a mix of prevention, treatment and outreach, we give families hope, and children the tools to be successful. Tanager Place’s comprehensive services and programs help more than 4,000 children each year.
