Man pleaded guilty to illegally selling drugs over internet
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – An Iowa man has entered a guilty plea in federal court to illegally selling more than 300,000 doses of steroids and other narcotics over the internet over a three-year period, according to court documents.
A press statement from federal prosecutors in Cedar Rapids said that Jon Stidham, 57, of McClelland, had entered a guilty plea on Wednesday to conspiring to illegally deliver, distribute, or administer methyltestosterone (a synthetic version of the male hormone testosterone) over the internet. The defendant additionally admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy to import misbranded drugs into interstate commerce with the purpose of deceiving or misleading and one count of mail fraud against the government.
According to the terms of his plea agreement, Stidham confessed that he owned and ran a company named Kennel Supply that sold a variety of things required for the operation of kennels and the maintenance of farm animals. Kennel Supply offered steroids and other prescription medications over the internet from 2015 to the middle of October 2018, without requiring customers to have legitimate prescriptions.
According to prosecutors, he received more than $500,000 in earnings as a result of the transactions.
When Stidham is sentenced at a later date, he may face a maximum of 15 years in federal prison. He is still free on bail, awaiting the outcome of the case.
