Orchestra Iowa hires new CEO
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Orchestra Iowa has declared that it will have a new Chief Executive Officer as of July 1st, 2024.
Beginning with the start of the fiscal year, Eric Marshall will assume the role of CEO. He was the Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Symphony in Louisiana before joining Orchestra Iowa, giving him over 15 years of orchestra leadership experience.
To assist with the transition, Interim CEO Linda Barnes will continue to work with the Orchestra in her temporary role. She will return to the board of Orchestra Iowa on August 1st, where she served as vice chair previously.
“After an extensive national search, I’m confident we have found the best candidate to lead Orchestra Iowa forward,” says Lisa Rhatigan, Orchestra Iowa’s Board Chair. “Eric not only checks all the boxes in terms of skills and experience, but he also has a huge amount of enthusiasm for our beloved orchestra and the corridor communities we serve.”
Tim Hankewich, the music director of Orchestra Iowa, says he is excited to collaborate with Eric starting in the upcoming season.
“He shared some great ideas during our interview process, and the time we spent together gave me great confidence in him. Orchestra Iowa’s future is bright!”
