Cedar Rapids, Iowa - In a tragic incident on Sunday afternoon, a pedestrian lost her life in Cedar Rapids. The accident occurred in the 1400 block of Memorial Drive SE. Check also: Iowa City-based nonprofit Table to Table helps the community Local resident Kyle Kubite, 45, was reportedly behind the wheel around 4:45 p.m. when his vehicle struck two pedestrians - a male and a female. Following the collision, both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries, while the male sustained non-critical wounds. Kubite, on the other hand, emerged from the accident unscathed. Authorities have since taken Kubite into custody, charging him with Vehicular Homicide and Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). Currently, the identity of the deceased woman is being withheld. In an effort to gather more information about this incident, the Linn County Crime Stoppers are appealing to the public for assistance.
