Dyersville, Iowa – Dyersville Events announced on Thursday that the Field of Dreams will receive a $500,000 grant from Google.org to enhance educational and team-building programs for young people.

“This grant will provide assistance to young people in the state who usually lack access to such high-quality enrichment programs,” stated John Sutter, vice president of Field of Dreams Operations at Travel Dubuque.

Every year, the Field of Dreams accommodates approximately 500 youth teams along with various team-building camps.

The nonprofit announced its intention to broaden the site’s offerings to encompass the following:

• Communication and trust skills-building camps
• Teamwork and leadership coaching
• Mentoring experiences with Ghost Players
• Fantasy and athletic skills camps with former Major League Baseball players
• Historic and hands-on interactive tours highlighting Iowa’s history

“The Field of Dreams stands as an iconic and enchanting location that is uniquely representative of Iowa,” stated Dan Harbeke, Regional Head of External Affairs and Public Policy at Google.

“Google is committed to organizing the world’s information and ensuring it is universally accessible, a principle that extends to making dreams feel attainable for all Iowans.” We take pride in providing more young Iowans with the chance to engage in innovative programs at the site, encouraging them to aspire to great heights and forge lasting memories.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds stated that the Field of Dreams project exemplifies the achievements communities can reach through local public-private partnerships.

“The grant from Google will significantly enhance the youth education programs in Dyersville and increase access to this iconic Iowa landmark for a broader audience,” Reynolds stated.
