Iowa City, Iowa – The creators of the Herky on Parade statues have committed to donating $65,000 to support the arts programs within the Iowa City Community School District.

A significant number of the Herky on Parade statues were put up for auction, and the artists involved have decided to direct the proceeds to the Iowa City Community School District through Think Iowa City.

“We’re celebrating every student, as having three kids in the district gives me insight into the positive impact of a gift like this and how it will directly enhance their learning,” stated Laura Ebinger, Director of the Iowa City Community School District Foundation.

Ebinger is actively seeking donations or grants of this nature.

“The contributions from our community truly distinguish our district from the rest,” Ebinger stated. “It significantly influences the number of children we can engage, the caliber of the programs we can offer, and ultimately enhances the overall educational quality in our district.”

The district is currently assessing the best allocation for these funds, according to her statement.

“We aim to implement initiatives throughout the entire district, ensuring that every student can take advantage of such a generous gift,” Ebinger stated. “We will collaborate closely with our art curriculum directors to identify the areas where a contribution of this magnitude can make the greatest difference.”

Funding was also allocated to the Clear Creek Amana and Solon school districts.
