A gathering of Mustang Invasion aficionados takes place in Cedar Falls
Cedar Falls, Iowa – This past Sunday was one of the biggest motorsports gatherings in the Cedar Valley for the year. Cedar Falls Motorsports Park was the site of the eighth installment of the Iowa Mustang Unstabled, Stang Invasion.
Families from throughout the Midwest, along with about a thousand spectators, flocked to Cedar Valley for the occasion.
“We just wanted to bring the whole car committee together and get as many people involved as possible,” said Nick Hansen. “I think we accomplished that today, even with a crappy weather in the morning.”
Everything from common to unusual cars was there. There were between 2,000 and 2,500 total cars, with over 1,000 of them being Mustangs.
“We open it up to spectators, which we’ve never done before, in addition to all makes and models,” Hansen said. “We’re a Mustang vs. the world type of situation here. We’ve got all kinds of cars racing tonight.”
A burnout competition and no-prep throw-down drag races with some elite drivers competing for large purses were on the itinerary.
