A teenager from Cedar Rapids is gathering donations to support individuals facing homelessness
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – A teenager from Cedar Rapids is collecting donations to assist those in need during this holiday season.
On Friday, a 13-year-old named Daniel Camp collected 50 complimentary meals from Wendy’s located on the West side of Cedar Rapids.
“While I may not provide them with shelter or clothing, the important thing is that I can offer food and supplies that they are unable to obtain on their own,” stated Camp.
Camp had gathered several items to distribute to the unsheltered, including Casey’s cards, clothing, and blankets. On Saturday the 14th, he intends to distribute them at Green Square.
“I, along with some friends, cousins, and family, including my grandma, will be out there distributing cards and other items to let people know that there is always someone ready to help,” said Camp.
Tami Palmer, the General Manager of Edgewood Road Wendy’s, expressed their enthusiasm in assisting Camp with his fundraising efforts. She mentioned that he was already known for his willingness to assist others.
“I’ve been aware of him doing this for many years and always considered it a fascinating endeavor,” stated Palmer.
For the past 8 years, Camp has been providing support to homeless individuals during the holiday season, beginning this initiative when he was just 5 years old.
“This truly highlights the extent of my contributions to the community and the impact I’m having on people’s lives,” stated Camp.
While these gift cards for a complimentary meal are a positive initial step, Camp mentioned that he is still aiming to gather a bit more before distributing everything.
“I appreciate any assistance people can provide, whether it’s clothes, cards, or any other items they are willing to share,” stated Camp. “That sums it up.”
If you would like to offer your assistance, feel free to send an email to this address.
