Brothers from Marshalltown are detained for stealing from a mall
Marshalltown, Iowa – In relation to a series of break-ins at the Marshalltown Mall, two brothers from Marshalltown have been taken into custody.
According to the police, last winter the burglars took $180,000 worth of electrical equipment and $9,200 worth of quarters from the mall.
Police were looking into a home invasion more than seven months after the thefts. They discovered a cigarette butt with 50-year-old Giles Clark’s DNA while gathering evidence at the house.
Many of the stolen goods were discovered by police when they carried out a search warrant at Clark’s house.
Giles has not been located, but Clark’s two boys, Hunter and Ashton, have been taken into custody.
According to Lt. Saide Weekly of the Marshalltown Police Department, “it was a lot of work, and we had not only our detective division but also a very tenacious young officer that did a lot on the case that kind of tied them all together for us.”
Authorities advised calling Marshalltown Police if you know where Clark might be.
