CEDAR RAPIDS COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO DISTRIBUTE OVER 800 HOTSPOTS

As the district has switched to full remote learning earlier this month, more students than ever are relying on a home internet connection.

With the help of funds received by the Cedar Rapids Community School Foundation from the Toyota USA Foundation and support from the T-Mobile 10 Million Project, Cedar Rapids Community School District is distributing 833 more hotspots to students. These hotspots—available to school buildings beginning Friday, Nov. 20—will provide unlimited data through June 30, 2021.

“Because both organizations came together to support our students, we are able to deliver this essential utility to even more students in the district,” says Craig Barnum, Executive Director of Digital Literacy and Information Technology. “We are very grateful for the generosity of the Toyota USA Foundation and T-Mobile.”

The hotspots will be available in the district for the next five years, with data limits in place after July 1, 2021.

If a family is interested in receiving a hotspot, they should contact their student’s school directly.
