Children’s Museum launches its summer mobile program
Coralville, Iowa – The summer program at the Iowa Children’s Museum is about to begin. Iowa Children’s Museum to Go, or ICM2GO, offers a children’s museum experience in parks located in Iowa City and Coralville on Mondays.
The organization, which visited the Iowa City Block Party over the weekend, is able to use its small fleet of vehicles to deliver the museum experience to individuals outside of Coral Ridge Mall thanks to ICM2GO. Additionally, Monday is the museum’s off day, so this is an opportunity to provide services on that day.
“It’s a chance for us to bring that play-based experience outside of the museum and into the community,” stated Iowa Children’s Museum executive director Jeff Capps.
Additionally, according to Capps, bringing the 2GO program to neighborhood activities is a smart approach to working with nearby NGOs and promoting community health.
They intend to enhance the Children’s Museum experience for visitors of all ages by making park visits.
“I believe, and we believe here at the museum, that play is for everyone and it’s a lifelong pursuit,” Capps said. “It’s really exciting when we see multiple generations engaging here at the museum and also in that park off-site programming.”
This is a link to the ICM2GO calendar; the majority of the events take place in Iowa City and Coralville area parks on Monday mornings.
