Eastern Iowa is covered in ice

Iowa City, Iowa – On Saturday, residents of eastern Iowa awoke to a landscape blanketed in ice.
“I’m not accustomed to the total ice covering everything, particularly on the windows,” remarked University of Iowa senior Maddie Sniadecki.

Sniadecki and his companions faced the challenging conditions to conduct their research and grab some coffee, despite describing the weather as “brutal.”

Perhaps the conditions weren’t as harsh as they seemed; Delanie Dahm wasn’t even donning a coat.

Dahm quipped, “I just needed to get back in touch with nature.”

Adam Zwanziger stated that he faced the harsh conditions, not for a study break, but rather for a snack.

“I was craving a bagel,” he stated.

Zwanziger mentioned that he opted for a bagel rather than the meal he had originally intended, citing the weather conditions as too hazardous for travel.

“I was looking forward to a Christmas gathering with my family who still reside in Cedar Falls.” I’m saying, ‘Don’t put your life on the line.’ We can enjoy a meal later.

In Iowa, it’s typical to anticipate some winter weather conditions. Yet, these individuals mentioned that it always catches them off guard.

Sniadecki mentioned her roots in Illinois, yet she expressed, “I feel like even if you live in the Midwest, you never really get used to it.”
