The Vinton Police Department supports families in need during the holiday season
Vinton, Iowa – On December 15, the Vinton Police Department held its 6th annual ‘Holiday With a Cop’ event at Theisen’s in Vinton.
The event provided assistance to approximately 90 children from the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District, with parents such as Paul Anthony Smith expressing that it was a significant benefit.
Smith remarked, “Things are so pricey now that we can’t buy as much as we used to, so this program is really beneficial.”
According to members of the Vinton Police Department, this event significantly affects the families involved.
Police Chief Ted Baxton stated, “We recognize the need and are committed to addressing it.”
Every child had approximately $110 available to spend.
The entire amount was sourced from contributions made by the community.
Families received assistance from the Benton County Sheriff’s Department and Benton County Conservation during their shopping experience.
