Iowa man accused of choking girlfriend, causing injuries to authorities
SPENCER, Iowa – An Iowa man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his girlfriend and injuring police during his booking.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were sent to the 500 block of E. St. Mary’s Street in Everly, Iowa for a report of a domestic assault.
A criminal complaint alleges 22-year-old Octavius Davis of Everly had assaulted his girlfriend by choking and strangulating her. Octavius allegedly struck her multiple times as well, causing bodily injuries.
The sheriff’s office says the girlfriend was treated by first responders and sent to a hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
Police located Octavius in Spencer and he was placed under arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail.
At the jail, authorities say Octavius became uncooperative and resisted deputies, officers and jail staff. He allegedly caused injuries to jail staff during the incident.
Octavius is charged with domestic abuse assault while impeding airway causing a bodily injury, child endanger and interference with official acts causing bodily injury.
