1,800 members of the Iowa National Guard are scheduled to deploy to the Middle East

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – In preparation for their deployment to the Middle East, the Iowa National Guard has announced that 1,800 personnel would be deployed for training.
It was today during Major General Stephen Osborn’s Condition of the Guard that he made the announcement.
This Joint preparation Training Center rotation is the penultimate event for the 5-year preparation cycle of the 2nd Brigade, and once it is finished, more than 1,800 soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team are set to deploy to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
The ongoing conflict against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the Middle East is referred to as “Operation Inherent Resolve.”
