Governor Reynolds urges law enforcement in Iowa to get ready to support Trump’s immigration agenda

Des Moines, Iowa – Iowa law enforcement is being urged by Governor Kim Reynolds to get ready to back President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed federal immigration policies.
Reynolds requested cooperation from the Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Iowa Department of Corrections in the Justice Department and Homeland Security investigations in a memo she issued on Friday.
When Trump takes power again, he has pledged to carry out mass deportations.
In reaction to the letter, the immigration advocacy group Escucha Mi Voz issued the following statement:
Alejandra Escobar, a member of Escucha Mi Voz, stated that Governor Reynolds should prioritize protecting the vital workers who form the foundation of Iowa’s economy while also preserving families.
“Our constitutional rights must be upheld and respected by Governor Reynolds and police enforcement at all levels. Without a warrant, ICE and the police are unable to enter our houses. We have the right to ask for identification from law enforcement, to speak with an attorney, and to remain silent.
