Linn County inmate captured after escaping from detention earlier this week
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The inmate was apprehended and returned to the Linn County Correctional Center early Thursday morning after fleeing Mercy Hospital while in police custody.
Michelle Brashear, 42, was being detained at the correctional facility on counts of Theft in the Second Degree and Providing False Identification Information, according to officials.
On Monday evening, around 8:15 p.m., she was transferred to Mercy Medical Center for medical care. Medical personnel realized Brashear had escaped the facility at 9:30 p.m.
Earlier this week, law enforcement sought public assistance in their search for Brashear.
The search came to an end at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, when she was apprehended and brought to Linn County Correctional Center.
