Construction on flood control project starts this week in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Another flood control project in Cedar Rapids will begin construction this week. Tomorrow, the city will begin construction on the flood gate at First Avenue East. It will resemble the city’s former gate, which was built in the nearby NewBo district.
Since the 2008 flood, the city has been working on a number of flood mitigation projects. Other flood control projects are scheduled to begin throughout the city till at least 2024.
