School supplies donated to 101 kids by the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Annual program, “Cops and Kids”, which assists children in need with back-to-school supplies was hosted by the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity.
The event was held from 6 p.m. at Walmart, 3601 29th Avenue SW on July 29.
The Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity, in collaboration with Walmart, provided 101 local children with school supplies, backpacks, shoes, and new clothing to help them begin the school year off to a good start.
The Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity collaborated with a number of organizations to identify the children that would benefit from receiving school supplies as part of this event.
The “Cops and Kids” program involves police officers who desire to reach out to their community and assist families who may be struggling financially for various reasons. A police officer is partnered with each school-aged child and the officer helps the child shop for needed school supplies.
All of the costs were covered by the Cedar Rapids Police Protective Charity, which is funded by police officers and other generous donations from the community.
