Prisoner dies after battling Covid-19 virus for couple of days
Fort Madison, Iowa – As Covid-19 cases surge in Iowa, virus related deaths are also on the rise.
Authorities reported that an Iowa prisoner, charged for murder in 1977, died from Covid-19.
The 81-year-old Phillip Benito Cuevas was under medical care for Covid-19 complications and several preexisting medical conditions at the Iowa State Penitentiary.
After battling the virus for couple of days, he died on Saturday.
Cuevas was serving a lifetime in prison for first-degree murder.
