Teenagers arrested after breaking into Vinton gas station twice
Vinton, Iowa – According to authorities, two teenagers have been arrested after breaking into the same convenience shop twice in two days. The crimes took place at John’s Qwik Stop, which is located at 804 C Avenue in the town of Vinton.
After conducting an investigation, investigators discovered that the suspect entered the business through a drive-through window. According to authorities, it seems that the burglars attempted to enter through a back door before giving up.
A man and a woman were seen on security cameras stealing money and goods from the shop. Cameron Hoffpauir, 18, of Cedar Rapids, was brought into custody and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Theft, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, and Trespassing, among other offenses. He is now being held at the Benton County Jail. Hoffpauir is accused of committing the burglaries after being released from prison on three previous felony charges.
The second suspect is a 17-year-old Vinton girl who has not been identified. Among the charges against her are 3rd Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Theft, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, Interference with Official Acts, Trespassing, and Interference with Official Acts. She is now being held at the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora.
