Very cold temperatures ahead in Iowa
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Through Wednesday, the Arctic air mass will have settled in and will bring very cold temperatures. By Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will be in the single digits below zero, and by Wednesday morning, they will have dropped into the teens below zero.
The air temperatures will be low enough now, but the wind will make it seem colder than it really is. As a result, wind chill advisories and warnings are in effect across eastern Iowa until noon on Wednesday.
Wind chills will be at their lowest levels Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with temperatures that feel like -20 to-40.
As the day progresses, the temperature will steadily rise until it reaches the high 20s or low 30s by Wednesday afternoon.
