Family displaced after fire caused significant damage to Cedar Rapids home
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – A fire that broke out on Tuesday night in Cedar Rapids caused significant damage to a house, forcing the family to leave their residence.
The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. by a passerby who noticed the house at 922 9th Street southeast was caught in flames.
According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, the family was able to leave the house safely before the arrival of the firefighters.
Responding crews found that the back of the home was still ablaze upon arrival.
The blaze was quickly extinguished, and hoselines were brought in to help protect the adjacent property.
The family had to be displaced since the fire caused significant damage to the house. The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army are assisting the family at this time.
An investigation has been launched to determine what caused the fire.
