A former police officer from Dubuque was found not guilty of domestic abuse

Dubuque, Iowa – The accusations of domestic abuse against a former Dubuque police officer have been dropped.
Tyler Breitbach was accused by a lady who had dated him of numerous instances of domestic violence.
At the time, Breitbach was a member of the Dubuque Police Department. In May 2024, he was taken into custody.
According to court documents filed soon after his detention, the woman said that in June 2023, as they were driving home, Breitbach struck her in the face with an open hand.
In a second incident, the woman said he had slammed her against a wall as he stormed into a house in July 2023.
Breitbach denied having any physical contact with the woman during his April 2024 police interview, claiming that their relationship was “toxic but never physical.”
Breitbach was found not guilty of the charges by a jury in Dubuque County.
