Iowa reports over 1.7M COVID vaccine doses have been administered

Iowa health officials are reporting 1,727,957 total COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to state residents.

As of Saturday morning, the COVID-19 vaccine dashboard is showing 733,783 people have been fully vaccinated against the virus.

State data shows 671,507 of those completed vaccine series were from the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. While 62,276 people have completed their single-dose vaccination with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The state’s dashboard shows there were 616 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 356,460.

The state’s website says of the people who have tested positive, 337,572 have recovered. This is 441 more recoveries than what the state reported yesterday.

Six additional virus-related death has been reported in Iowa, bringing its death toll to 5,849.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (337,572) and the number of deaths (5,849) from the total number of cases (356,460) shows there are currently 13,039 active positive cases in the state.

There are currently 218 virus-related hospitalizations in Iowa, which is down from the 228 reported yesterday. Of those hospitalizations, 52 are in the ICU and 19 are on ventilators.

In Iowa, there were 3,003 new test results reported in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,663,687people have been tested for COVID-19.
