Cedar Rapids Long Term Care Facility Has Recovered From COVID-19 Outbreak

Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids is officially considered recovered from the COVID-19 outbreak that began in late March.
Heritage Specialty Care is officially recovered from the outbreak because it has had no new cases for 28 consecutive days, or two straight incubation periods.
The Iowa Department of Public Health worked with Linn County Public Health and Heritage Specialty Care when the outbreak was identified to stop the spread of the virus. Among the changes made were limiting visitors, screening residents and staff for COVID-19 symptoms, changing the flow of workers to prevent further infections, and other practices to prevent infection.
Heritage Specialty Care Administrator Nick Jedlicka said in the media release,
We are grateful that our staff and residents are again healthy and we appreciate the support of Linn County Public Health during this outbreak. I would also like to thank our dedicated staff who made it possible for Heritage to work through such a difficult situation.
