Cedar Rapids police investigating two separate shooting incidents
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Gunfire struck a house and two apartment complexes in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday.
According to the CRPD, no one was injured in either incident, and the incidents are not connected.
Officers first responded to a report of shots fired in the 1800 block of 5th Avenue SE shortly before 4 p.m. On one block, a residence was struck numerous times.
According to witnesses, a gold Chevrolet Impala slowly approached the house, and a passenger exited and fired a shot toward the house. Two young guys exited the house two minutes later and got into a dark colored vehicle that drove away from the neighborhood.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Bever Avenue and 15th Street SE at 8:39 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Witnesses reported hearing two males arguing in the alley before hearing gunshots. Two residential complexes were struck in this area.
