Governor Reynolds honors President Jimmy Carter by ordering the flag to be flown at half-staff
Des Moines, Iowa – To honor and remember former President Jimmy Carter, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered all Iowa flags to be lowered to half-staff until the sunset on January 28, 2025.
At the age of 100, Carter passed away on Sunday.
“President Carter had a wonderful life filled with national service. Governor Reynolds stated, “President Carter never stopped living his faith through service, volunteering his time to build homes for those in need well into his 90s.”
“Generations of Americans have been inspired by his belief in putting God’s love into action, and Kevin and I are praying for his family during this trying time.”
Both the Capitol Complex’s flag displays and the State Capitol Building will have their flags at half-staff. Additionally, all public buildings, sites, and facilities around the state will have their flags at half-staff. January 9, 2025, has been designated as a National Day of Mourning across the United States by the White House.
