Council Street NE project to be completed next month
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Council Street NE improvements between Collins Road and Blairs Ferry will be completed next month.
A large percentage of the remaining work will be done next week (the week of May 31st).
Council Street between Collins Road and 51st Street/Park Place will be shut down beginning next week while workers complete final pavement/asphalt operations.
As part of the pavement work, the intersection at Council Street and 51st Street/Park Place will experience alternating closures east and west of the intersection. This closure is expected to last around one week.
Park Place Lane provides business access. The entire project is expected to be completed by summer.
New sidewalk and ADA sidewalk ramps, intersection replacement, asphalt pavement overlay and minor utility work (water main, sanitary sewer service) are all part of the improvements.
