CR police cite five for selling alcohol to minors during compliance checks

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Cedar Rapids Police Department has cited five employees from the same amount of businesses for selling alcohol to minors.
It was part of alcohol compliance checks conducted on Saturday, March 20.
15 businesses throughout the city that have licenses to sell alcohol were checked. An individual under the game of 21 was able to buy alcohol at five of those businesses.
Employees at the following locations were cited for a simple misdemeanor:
- Casey’s, 1201 1st Avenue SE
- Hill Brothers Jiffy Mart, 1904 Mount Vernon Road SE
- Hy-Vee, 3235 Oakland Road NE
- Kum & Go, 3132 1st Avenue NE
- Old Marion Road BP, 1120 Old Marion Road NE
The fine for selling alcohol to a minor, if found guilty, is $645 plus court costs.
