Ed Miles, a former Hawkeye, has been appointed as the honorary captain for the upcoming Nebraska game
Iowa City, Iowa – Ed Miles, a former linebacker for Iowa and now the football coach at Cedar Rapids Jefferson, has been named the honorary captain for the Hawkeyes’ game against Nebraska this Friday at Kinnick Stadium.
Miles was a member of the Hawkeyes from 2003 through 2006. In his last two seasons in Iowa City, he served as a starting linebacker, concluding his career with a total of 186 tackles and four sacks.
Iowa achieved bowl eligibility in each of Miles’ four seasons wearing black and gold.
Miles had a three-season career in the NFL, where he played for the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons.
Miles took the helm as head coach at Cedar Rapids Jefferson in 2022 and has significantly revitalized the J-Hawk program, culminating in a winning record this past season.
Miles held the position of assistant coach at Linn-Mar between 2016 and 2020.
Miles is set to join the Iowa captains at midfield for the coin toss ahead of Friday’s game. He will be present with the Hawkeyes in the locker room both prior to and following the game.
