A festive holiday light display serves a dual purpose by raising funds for a nearby animal shelter
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – A local family’s holiday light display, which also serves to gather donations for nearby animal shelters, has reached new heights this year.
Jet Miller and her husband Jim dedicated months to crafting a stunning holiday light display that illuminates their section of Wells Lane on the Northeast side of Cedar Rapids.
“Countless lights,” remarked Jet. “We stopped keeping track quite some time back.”
For the past few years, the two have been engaged in this activity. Jet mentioned that this initiative began during the pandemic and has continued to expand significantly each year.
“My ultimate goal is to have a lineup of cars, one after another,” she stated.
However, creating a line of cars was not their sole objective. Additionally, they are collecting funds to support a nearby animal shelter. In the previous year, they successfully gathered more than $700 for Last Hope Rescue and Saint Cat Rescue. This season, funds were being collected for A Purposeful Like Animal Rescue and Sanctuary located in Marion.
This organization is dedicated to the welfare of homeless animals, whether they are abandoned or require special attention.
“The pets just can’t control their impulses,” she remarked. “In their current circumstances, they find themselves with no options available.”
Individuals have the opportunity to contribute while enjoying the festive lights by placing their donations in the box located outside the residence.
“It’s stunning, it’s gorgeous,” remarked Jet.
The family described the display as a source of holiday cheer and warmth, while also contributing to fundraising efforts for animals in need.
“You know how it is with animals; they just don’t seem to have enough time,” Jet remarked.
