Explosion injures two workers at Agri Star meat packing plant in Postville
POSTVILLE, Iowa — An explosion Monday afternoon in the northeast Iowa town of Postville injured two workers.
It happened around 3 p.m. at Agri Star’s meat packing plant the Postville Police Department confirmed to Iowa’s News Now.
Police said there was no fire after the initial blast. Authorities say the explosion stemmed from a broken hose on a 100 pound tank, which lead to LP gas filling the room.
The two injured workers were taken to a hospital in Decorah. Police could not provide an update to their conditions later on Monday.
The plant did not shut down fully, some areas of the plant that were not impacted are still up and running.
