Father hospitalized after being stabbed by his son in the abdomen following a verbal altercation
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Following the stabbing of his father in the early hours of Friday morning, police said a man has been charged with attempted murder.
According to a police press release, the incident occurred at around 3:47 a.m. in the 4000 block of Wilson Avenue SW.
Officers arrived at the location to find the victim, 65-year-old Jonathan Youngbear, with an apparent stab wound to his abdomen. Paramedics determined his wound was life-threatening and immediately transported him to a local hospital.
During a verbal dispute with his father, Jared Youngbear, 26, stabbed him in the abdomen, according to the police.
When Jared Yougbear was taken into custody, he was charged with attempted murder, willful injury, and domestic violence assault with a weapon resulting in serious injury.
An investigation is still underway.
