Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The Chief Operations Officers of the Ecumenical Community Center announced that the groups housed within will continue as usual, despite bricks falling off the building’s facade on Thursday morning.

Although the reason for the bricks falling off the building is unknown, engineers will examine the structure on Monday to assess the extent of the damage and its source.

The address of the building is Southeast 6th Street and Second Avenue.

Numerous groups, including the NAACP, NAMI, and Helping Hands Ministry, are housed in the complex.

A few rooms are currently shuttered, and the entrance on Sixth Street is now gated off.

The companies who used those restricted rooms, according to the Center’s COO, are still able to function remotely, while the organizations occupying the other spaces of the building enter through Second Ave.

According to her, the closure of the entrance on Sixth Street is really a little annoyance.

“Well, falling bricks are not helpful; we’re just trying to assist our neighbors who are in the greatest need of assistance.”
