Food boxes available for 1,500 families Tuesday
DES MOINES, Iowa —
The Food Bank of Iowa plans to distribute food boxes for 1,500 families.
It runs Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon, and it’s free to anybody who’s hungry. Food boxes will be put directly into cars at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Visitors are asked to enter from East 33rd Street and University Avenue.
The Food Bank of Iowa and other food pantries said they’ve seen a huge increase in the need for food assistance since the coronavirus pandemic started.
They expect that to continue through at least December of 2021.
